How to Play NFL Drive Rush

The Goal

Drive Rush is a free football trivia race played on a 25-yard board. Roll dice, clear NFL challenges, and reach the end zone before the 5-minute clock runs out.

Roll & Move

Roll the dice to advance down the field. Land on a TRAP tile and you'll face a round of real NFL trivia before you can keep moving — land on a FORTUNE tile instead and you bank a free +10s on the clock, no questions asked.

Red Zone

Yards 21–24 contain three TRAP tiles and one FORTUNE tile. Movement, downs and scoring rules stay the same.

Downs

Each TRAP tile gives you up to 4 downs to answer correctly, same spirit as a 4th down in real football. Miss on downs 1 through 3 and you lose 10s off the clock each time, then get a fresh question to try again. Miss the 3rd down and you're handed a choice instead of a straight 4th attempt: go for it (answer the down 4 question — get it right and you move on with points, get it wrong and it's an immediate turnover, ending the drive) or play it safe and pay 25s to skip the tile and advance without it. Every question also has its own 10s timer — let it run out and it counts as a miss, same as answering wrong.

Hot Streak

Answer clean — right on the 1st down, with no misses on that tile — and consecutive clean answers stack an escalating bonus: +50 more for each one in the streak, up to +200 from the 5th clean answer on. Any miss, or getting the tile right on a later down instead of the first, resets the streak back to zero — it's a running streak for the whole drive, not per tile.

Time Pressure

The clock never pauses, not even mid-question — every second counts twice: reaching the end zone before it hits zero is the only way to score a Touchdown, and whatever time you have left when the drive ends (Touchdown or turnover alike) converts straight into bonus points, at 1 point per second remaining, with no cap. Playing fast is its own reward.

Drive Rush Scoring

  • Each correct TRAP answer: 100 points.
  • Hot Streak bonus on clean answers: +50 per extra answer in the streak, up to +200.
  • Touchdown: +500 points.
  • Remaining whole seconds: +1 each on a Touchdown or a turnover.
  • Full mode: +25% on the final score, rounded up.
  • Moving across yards: 0 points.

Daily Drill: Mystery Legend

A brand-new Mystery Legend, drawn from a pool of 500+ offensive players and NFL legends, drops every day right on the home screen — no drive required. Guess who it is in 5 tries or fewer.

Feedback Badges

Every guess checks your pick against today's Legend across 3 categories, each color-coded:

  • POSPosition — green for an exact match, red otherwise.
  • CONFConference/Division — green for the same division, gold for the same conference but a different division, red for a different conference.
  • ERADraft Year — green for the exact year, gold (with an ↑/↓ arrow) within 3 years, red outside that range.

Progressive Hints

Miss enough guesses and 3 hints unlock automatically: Attempt 3 reveals the Legend's main franchise, Attempt 4 reveals a career stat, and Attempt 5 reveals their jersey number or draft pick.

Scoring

Solve it on attempt 1 for 500 pts — the reward drops with every extra guess: 480 on attempt 2, 350 on attempt 3, 200 on attempt 4, and 100 on your last try.

NFL Trivia: Seven-Rung Challenge

The Seven-Rung Challenge is a separate, timed NFL trivia game at drive-rush.com/trivia. There's no board or dice: you climb 7 timed rungs, and clearing the final rung scores a Touchdown.

How a Climb Works

Every rung has its own clock: 25 seconds on rungs 1–4 and 30 seconds on rungs 5–7, restarted fresh each time you climb. Answer correctly to move up. Miss, or let the clock run out, and what happens depends on the rung.

Question Types

  • Rungs 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7: a standard NFL question with four answer options.
  • Rung 3, Higher or Lower: you see one player's career stat (passing yards, total touchdowns or receiving yards) and decide whether a second player has a higher or lower number. Players come from the modern era: anyone who entered the league in 2010 or later, drafted or undrafted.
  • Rung 5, Guess the Player: from clues (team, position, draft year and jersey number), pick the right name out of three. This rung can draw from NFL legends too.

What Happens If You Miss

  • Rescue, rungs 1–3: your first miss on each of these rungs is free. You stay on the rung with 15 extra seconds and no point penalty: on rungs 1 and 2 you get another look at the same question (with a hint when it has one), and on rung 3 a new matchup. A second miss on the same rung ends your climb.
  • Sudden death, rungs 4–5: no safety net. One miss ends your climb.
  • Safeguard, rungs 6–7: before you answer, you can skip the question and take a flat 80 points, with no time bonus. On rung 7 that completes the climb. Answer instead and miss, and your climb ends.

Wildcards

You start with 4 wildcards, each usable once per climb. Every one adds time to the current rung's clock:

  • Audible swaps the current question for a new one (+20s, any rung).
  • Half Field removes two wrong answers (+15s, rungs 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7).
  • Stat Gap shows whether the two players in a Higher or Lower matchup are far apart or close (+15s, rung 3).
  • Division Badge reveals the conference and division of the mystery player (+15s, rung 5).

Scoring

Each correct answer is worth 100 points, plus 1 point for every full second left on the rung's clock. Reach the Touchdown and each wildcard you never used adds 200 more points, up to +800 if you keep all 4. That bonus only pays out on a Touchdown. If your climb ends earlier, your score is whatever you banked before the miss.

How to Win

Clear rung 7, by answering it correctly or by taking the Safeguard there, and you score a Touchdown. Ready to climb? Play NFL Trivia.
